Dear Brethren:
First, I would like to state that I thought our inspection went well and I would like to congratulate W. Brother Eric Funston on the degree work as he presided in the east and Brother Dan Andrews on his presentation of the Entered Apprentice lecture. I look forward to the coming year and would like to encourage all members of Medina lodge, whether new or well-seasoned, to learn a new or different part of the ritual. Not only in the event that a person could present masonic knowledge during ritual work to a candidate, but also to deepen that member’s appreciation and knowledge of all things masonic in nature. Remember, we are all supposed to improve in our ability to converse with others and have productive discourse as we improve ourselves in masonry. Also, don’t be afraid to speak up at meetings. We all can learn something from each other. I have to remind myself these things from time to time, especially because I still view myself as a junior member of this lodge. I know that I, as well as others, sometimes hesitate to speak their mind because they don’t want to appear ignorant or to break a Masonic protocol that they might not be aware of. I feel confident that in the near future our WM and LEO will present, advise, and educate the entire lodge so that we can all be on the same page. In the mean time, go to the Masonic Library in downtown Cleveland, even if you have been there before. Peruse the material and share what you learn. Finally, don’t forget that we have several well-informed brethren in our lodge who
are as willing to give good counsel as you may be to receive it. I look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting!
Fraternally yours,
Bro. Jay Calderhead
